Transcript for Treestand Safety Safe Descent Review

Amber: If you chose “Make your firearm safe,” you are correct. Before attaching your firearm to the haul line, you must make it safe. Once that is complete, you can lower the firearm to the base of the tree stand. After that, you can detach the tether from the tree and begin to safely descend the tree stand.

Before moving on, let’s take a minute to discuss what to do if you fall from your tree stand. Firstly, it is important to stay calm. Don’t panic and remember to practice the three R’s: rescue, relief, and recovery. You will need to think about the best way to reconnect with the tree stand.

Optimally, you should hunt with a buddy so that he or she can help you in an emergency. If you are by yourself, you should always carry an emergency signal device on you at all times. There are also a variety of other products, like the suspension relief device and self-recovery, that can assist you if you have fallen out of your tree stand.

As you can see, there is a lot that goes into the preparation and use of a tree stand. It is important that you never leave the ground unless you are certain you have taken the proper precautions.

Congratulations! You have made it through the Tree Stand Safe Descent scenario of Hunt Day 4. Only one more scenario to go.
