Course Outline

Hunting safety goes beyond gun handling. It’s important to plan and prepare for occurrences such as weather, encountering venomous and poisonous creatures, your physical endurance and even your emotional state.

If you find yourself lost in the outdoors or unable to safely make it back to camp or your vehicle, commit to spending the night where you are. Keep a cool head and when it’s safe to regain your bearings do so and resume your trip. If you are lost, stay in one place. If you properly planned your hunt and left a plan with a trusted friend or loved one you will likely be found in a few days.

Once you have calmed and admitted your situation you have three priorities: build a shelter, create a fire and signal for help. It will also be important in the Arizona desert to ensure you have enough water.
