Lymphoproliferative Disease Virus (LPDV): What AZGFD Is Doing

Since little is known about LPDV, the department is in the beginning stages of monitoring for the disease. We respond to calls and reports of sick or dead turkeys, and whenever possible, AZGFD’s Wildlife Health Program will test samples. In 2019 and 2020, prior to the hunting season, the department sent letters and sample kits to hunters with turkey tags to inform them about LPDV and encourage them to submit samples from their harvested turkey.
