If you are coming from a location more humid than Arizona, you may be surprised by how little you perspire. At first glance, it may seem that you are sweating very little. What is really happening, is that your sweat is evaporating at a much higher rate than you are used to. This is deceptive and can lure you into thinking you do not need to drink as much fluid as your body needs in such a dry climate.

You often do not feel thirsty, even while dehydrated in the dry heat. It is crucial to drink plenty of water BEFORE you realize you are thirsty or become dehydrated. Keep away from sugary and caffeinated drinks as they will speed your dehydration.
