Pneumonia in Bighorn Sheep: What You Can Do

If drawn for a bighorn sheep tag, please submit nasal swab and tissue samples for testing. Report any observations of sick or dead sheep to AZGFD's Wildlife Health Program or to a local regional office. Since pneumonia is transferred to bighorn sheep populations from domestic sheep, we encourage the public to report any loose domestic sheep, especially in areas where bighorn sheep populations are located, so they can be tested for pneumonia and returned to their owner.
