How do I get my Missouri Certified Burner Certification?

1. Study and pass the Missouri Department of Conservation–Approved online course.

Study and pass the $25 course. Throughout the Prescribed Burning for Missouri Land Managers Course, you’ll be tested on what you’ve learned.

2. Sign up for and attend the In-Person Field Day.

Immediately print out your Certificate of Completion, which you will need to bring with you to the In-Person Field Day. You will be contacted by the MDC with potential dates to schedule your In-Person Field Day.

3. Get your Missouri Certified Burner Certification.

You’ll receive your permanent Certified Burner Certification after successfully completing the In-Person Field Day.

Do I have to take an online exam?

The Final Exam is the exam you take at the end of the online course. You must score at least 80% on the exam to pass. You have unlimited attempts to pass the exam. If you don’t complete the exam in one session, don’t worry. When you log in later, you will be taken to the first unanswered question of the exam.

What is the proof of online Prescribed Burning for Missouri Land Managers Course completion?

Once you pass the Final Exam and pay for the Certified Burner Certification, you will be able to immediately print out the Certificate of Completion. This is your proof of online course completion. You can print the Certificate of Completion right then, and/or request that a PDF be emailed to you.

What is the permanent Missouri Certified Burner Certification?

The Certified Burner Certification is proof that you have successfully completed all the prescribed burn education requirements in Missouri.

You will receive the Certified Burner Certification from the Missouri Department of Conservation after you successfully complete the In-Person Field Day.
