How do I get my Kentucky Hunter Education Completion Card?

1. Study and pass the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources–Approved online course.

Study and pass the $34.95 course. Throughout the Kentucky Hunter Ed Course, you’ll be tested on what you’ve learned.

2. Sign up for and attend the Range Day.

Immediately print out your Online Course Completion Voucher, which you will need to bring with you to the Range Day. The Online Course Completion Voucher is good for 365 days. You need to locate and sign up for the Range Day. To sign up, go to https://register-ed.com/programs/kentucky/121-kentucky-hunter-education-range-day.

Remember: Passing the online course does not guarantee you a spot at the Range Day.

3. Get your Kentucky Hunter Education Completion Card.

You’ll receive your permanent Hunter Education Completion Card after successfully completing the Range Day. The Hunter Education Completion Card will be mailed to you.

All U.S. states, provinces, and other countries that have mandatory hunter education requirements will accept the Kentucky Hunter Education Completion Card. Likewise, Kentucky will accept Hunter Education certifications that are issued by other jurisdictions that meet official IHEA-USA requirements. (This is known as “reciprocity.”)

If you fail a unit quiz, you can take it again until you pass. You must score at least 80% on the unit quizzes to pass.

Do I have to take an online exam?

You do not have to take an online exam, but you are required to attend the Range Day to complete your Hunting safety certification.

What is the proof of online Kentucky Hunter Ed Course completion?

Once you pass and pay for the online course, you will be able to immediately print out the Online Course Completion Voucher. This is your proof of online course completion. You can print the Online Course Completion Voucher right then, and/or request that a PDF be emailed to you. This certificate EXPIRES 365 days after course completion.

What is the permanent Kentucky Hunter Education Completion Card?

The Hunter Education Completion Card is proof that you have successfully completed all the education requirements. The Hunter Education Completion Card will be mailed to you by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources after you complete all certification requirements.
