You need education in New Mexico prior to applying for or purchasing a firearms hunting license if you are under 18 years of age.

How do I get my Hunter Education Number?

1. Study and pass the online course.

Study and pass the $19.50 course. Throughout the New Mexico Hunter Ed Course, you’ll be tested on what you’ve learned.

2. Print your Instructions for Completing Certification.

After successfully completing the online course, you’ll immediately print out your Instructions for Completing Certification.

3. Get your Hunter Education Number.

After passing the course, you will reprint your Customer Identification Number Card from the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. The card will now include your Hunter Education Number.
