Course Outline

TWRA Wildlife Officers enforce the Tennessee hunting, fishing, and trapping laws. They also have the authority to enforce all other state laws. Full-time officers are located in each county and have responsibilities that include:

  • Patrolling assigned areas to enforce laws governing the taking, possessing, transporting, and disposing of wildlife
  • Investigating suspected hunting and trapping violations
  • Checking to make sure hunters and trappers have the correct licenses and tags and have not exceeded the bag limits
  • Working with schools, clubs, and organizations to teach courses and promote wildlife-related projects
  • Communicating with radio, television, and press media
