Course Outline

When set, cable restraints must be:

  • Anchored firmly to the ground or to an immovable location (no drags are allowed).
  • Set in such a way that a captured animal may not be subject to entanglement or suspension.
  • Positioned to provide 360° of movement around the anchor point.
  • Set so that bottom of loop is no less than 6 inches and no greater than 12 inches above the first hard surface beneath the cable restraint (ground, ice, crusted or packed snow).
  • Maintained in good condition so that all components operate properly.
  • Visited by the trapper at no longer than a 36-hour interval, and all captured animals removed from the set.
  • Removed from an area when abandoned or when the season closes.
