Course Outline

Cable devices have no springs or other power-assisted components to close the cable loop. These devices instead solely depend on the energy or actions of the animal to close the loop. Therefore, cable devices are placed in areas where movement of target animals is concentrated and predictable, usually along a trail or other constriction that causes the animal to confine their movements. When properly set, a target animal will pass through the open loop of the cable device and pull on the loop until the animal is secure.
