Course Outline

Trapping coyotes can be rewarding, but they are sometimes difficult to capture due to their wariness and keen senses.

  • Areas that contain good numbers of coyotes and possible set locations should be determined well before the trapping seasons. Sites should be prepared by removing sources of entanglement and creating brush fences, if necessary, to direct the coyote to the cable restraint. This preparation work will give the coyotes in the area time to get used to any changes you make.
  • Prior to setting the cable restraint, care should be taken to minimize any scent by:
    • Storing cables outside or away from odors and…
    • Using gloves when setting them.
