Here are the Pennsylvania regulations regarding incidental take.

  • Trappers using cable restraints intended for foxes and coyotes may keep non-target furbearers that are captured incidentally if:
    • There is an open season for that furbearer and…
    • The trapper has a license and/or permit for that furbearer.
  • Bobcats may not be taken in cable restraints during the bobcat hunting season.
  • Any other furbearers incidentally captured with a cable device must be released alive.
  • Animals mistakenly killed with cable restraints must be reported to the Game Commission officer in the county where the kill occurred.
