First aid: insect bites and stings

If you know that you are allergic to certain insect bites or stings, be sure to bring along any medicine you require, such as antihistamines or an EpiPen^®.

For common stings and bites, relieve the discomfort by applying something cool, such as a wrapped cold pack, to affected area. This will help reduce inflammation. Cold packs should be wrapped in a towel and placed directly on the affected area.

If you are not feeling well after an insect sting or bite, seek medical help as soon as possible.
