1. Study & Pass the Online Course

   After passing the Washington Hunter Safety Course, you’ll pay the $19.50 course fee and immediately print out your Exam Certificate, which you will need for the Field Day.

2. Sign Up and Attend the Required Field Day

   To complete the hunter education requirements for Washington, you must attend the Field Day portion of the Hunter Ed Safety Course. Learn more about the Field Day.

3. Receive Your Washington Certification Card

   After successfully completing the Field Day, your permanent Washington Certification Card will be issued to you by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Study the Course Content

This official training program is developed to meet the standards for hunter training established by the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA).

Read each chapter. The chapters are organized to form building blocks of information. Each chapter will help you understand the information in the next chapters.

This official training program will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be a safe and responsible hunter in Washington.

Pass the 16 Unit Quizzes

As you progress through the course, you’ll be given the opportunity to demonstrate how well you’re understanding the hunter safety topics by taking a quiz at the end of each unit (chapter).

You’ll need to score 80% or greater on the unit quiz before moving on to the next unit.

If you don’t pass a unit quiz, that’s no problem. You can study until you feel you are ready to take the quiz again.

Pass the Final Exam

After completing all units, you’ll have the choice to proceed directly to the online Certification Exam, or you may first take a practice exam.

Both the practice exam and the Certification Exam cover all the course material and will assess your knowledge of hunting safely in Washington.

You must score 80% or greater on the final exam to pass. If you fail the final exam, don’t worry; you have unlimited attempts to pass the final.
