Official Idaho Hunter Education Course
About the Course and Hunting License Requirements
Completion of an approved hunter education course is required
for anyone born on or after January 1, 1975, in order to
purchase an Idaho hunting license. However, an education
course is not required if an individual has previously held
a valid hunting license in Idaho or any other state.
This online course is recommended for self-motivated
students age 14 and older with good reading and comprehension
skills who have some firearm and hunting knowledge or experience.
However, students 10 years old and older may be tested
and certified in this course.
Upon successfully passing the online Pre-Certification Exam,
you will be eligible to attend an Idaho Hunter Education
Program Independent Study Field Day. To complete your hunter
education certification requirements, you must attend
a field day and successfully complete the remaining course
requirements, which include several hours of
field instruction, a range exercise, a live-fire exercise,
and the written Idaho Hunter Education Certification Exam.
If you’ve already passed the online exam and have lost your certificate, please call (800) 830-2268 for a duplicate.
