How much does the online hunter certification course cost? How much does the Field Day Qualifier Certificate cost?
The online course fee is $15.00. There is no charge for the Field Day Qualifier Certificate.
Is it safe to enter my credit card information online?
Yes. You can enter your credit card online with confidence on our secure server. This charge will appear on your credit card statement as “Safety Courses 18008302268.”

Taking the Alaska Hunter's Ed Course

How long will it take to complete the course?
It typically takes 3–4 hours to go through the online course, excluding quizzes/tests, and any re-studying that you may choose to do.
Do I have to complete the online course all at once?
You may complete the course at your own pace. The course can be completed in one sitting or completed a little at a time over several days.
After passing the course, how long do I have to wait for my Field Day Qualifier Certificate?
Upon passing and paying for the course, you may immediately print out a Field Day Qualifier Certificate.
What is the minimum age to take the online course?
There is no minimum age to take the online course.

Course Authority, Recognition, and State Acceptance

Is this course approved by the state of Alaska?
This course is approved by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to satisfy the education requirements necessary to obtain the Alaska Hunter Education Certificate.
Is my Alaska Hunter Education Certificate accepted in other states?
All states and provinces that have mandatory hunter education requirements will accept Alaska hunter education certifications. Likewise, Alaska will accept hunter education certifications that are issued by other states and provinces that meet official IHEA-USA requirements. (This is known as “reciprocity.”)

Unit Quizzes and Field Day Qualifier Exam

I failed a unit quiz. Have I failed the course?
No. You will be required to retake the quiz. You must score at least 80% on the 8 unit quizzes to pass.
Am I required to take the practice exam before taking the Field Day Qualifier Exam?
No. After completing all units, you’ll have the choice to proceed directly to the online Field Day Qualifier Exam, or you may first take a practice exam. Both exams cover all the course material.
What is the Field Day Qualifier Exam?
The Field Day Qualifier Exam is the exam you take at the end of the course. After reviewing all units, you must take and pass the Field Day Qualifier Exam covering all the course material. You must score at least 80% on the Field Day Qualifier Exam to pass. You have unlimited attempts to pass the Field Day Qualifier Exam.
What if I fail the Field Day Qualifier Exam?
You must score at least 80% on the Field Day Qualifier Exam to pass. If you fail the Field Day Qualifier Exam, you may immediately take it again.
Do I have to complete the Field Day Qualifier Exam in one session?
No, you can log out without completing the exam. When you log in later, you will be taken to the first unanswered question of the exam.

About Your Hunter Certification

What is the Field Day Qualifier Certificate?
After completing the course by passing and paying the course fee, you may instantly print out a Alaska Field Day Qualifier Certificate. This online course certificate will allow you to be admitted to a Field Day provided by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
When will I receive the Field Day Qualifier Certificate?
Once you pass the course and pay the course fee, you will be able to immediately print out the Field Day Qualifier Certificate. You can print the Field Day Qualifier Certificate right then, and/or request that a PDF of the Field Day Qualifier Certificate be e-mailed to you.
What is the Alaska Hunter Education Certificate?
The Alaska Hunter Education Certificate is proof that you have successfully completed all the hunter education requirements and can purchase a license to legally hunt in the state of Alaska. You will receive the Alaska Hunter Education Certificate from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game after successfully completing the Field Day.
How do I get the Alaska Hunter Education Certificate?
Your Alaska Hunter Education Certificate will be issued to you after you pass and pay for the online course and complete the in-person component of the hunter certification process.

The Field Day

Is there an in-person component of the hunter certification process?

After passing the online course, students must attend a Field Day Field Day provided by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. You must provide the instructor with your Field Day Qualifier Certificate in order to participate.

Go to http://www.huntereducation.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=huntered.onlinecourses&classtype=h to search for a Field Day in your area or call 907-465-4100. You must pre-register for the Field Day with the instructor.

Once you have successfully completed the Field Day, you will receive your permanent Alaska Hunter Education Certificate from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Does passing the online course guarantee me a spot at the Field Day?
No. Once you pass the online course, you are responsible for signing up for a Field Day in your area.

Replacement of Lost or Damaged Cards and Certificates

How do I replace my Alaska Hunter Education Certificate if I’ve lost it or it has been damaged?
If you have already received the Alaska Hunter Education Certificate and need a replacement certificate, you can contact the Alaska Department of Fish and Game at akb-webmaster@hunter-ed.com or 907-465-4100.
How do I replace my Field Day Qualifier Certificate if I’ve lost it or it has been damaged?
To replace a lost or destroyed Field Day Qualifier Certificate, log in to the course and print a new one.

Username and Password

How do I choose a username?
Sometimes, it can be difficult to find a username that has not already been taken by someone else taking the same course. Try to pick something that is easy to remember but is also unique.
I need to change my username and/or password. Where do I do this?
If you need to update your profile information or change your password, click on the View Profile link under your username in the navigation bar at the top of any web page in the course. Re-submit your revised information using the form provided.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

If you forget your password, you can reset it from the Forgot Your Password page. You will need to enter your username and the e-mail from your profile, and an e-mail containing the link to reset your password will be sent.

Logging In/Out

Do I have to complete the online course all at once?
You may complete the course at your own pace. The course can be completed in one sitting or completed a little at a time over several days.
I am afraid to log out of the course, but I don’t have all day to take it. Will I lose everything if I log out?
No, when you log out, your progress is recorded so that when you log in again, you can pick up where you left off. When logging back in, you will be taken to the Course Contents page where you can see the progress you have made. You can click on a link for the last page viewed to go back to that part of the course.
How many times may I log in and out?
You may log in and out as many times as you wish. Your progress is monitored and saved.

Troubleshooting

What does the message “Your session has expired due to inactivity” mean?
If you have not been active within the course for more than 15 minutes, you will automatically be logged out of your session. A notice stating, “Your session has expired due to inactivity.” will appear at the top of the course on a yellow background. Log back in, and you can continue interacting with the course. Your progress will have been recorded, and you should be able to continue where you left off in the course.
What happens if I get disconnected from the Internet while taking the course?
If you are disconnected from the Internet, simply log back in and pick up where you left off. Your progress in the course will be saved.
Why aren’t the animations or videos displaying?
If you are unable to view the animations or videos, make sure that Adobe Flash Player is installed on your system.
