Harvest Quotas

The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission sets regional harvest quotas.

  • Quotas have been removed for most regions. Currently, only Region 3 and Wolf Management Units (WMUs) 313 & 316 retain quotas, in addition to a statewide quota.
  • When a quota is reached, the hunting and trapping season for the state, the region, and/or WMU will close upon a 24-hour notice.
  • Trappers must check quota status before setting traps, as regions may close early upon reaching limits. Updates are available on the FWP website or via the harvest reporting hotline (1-877-FWP-WILD).
