Hunting Seasons

Animal populations have a limited number and are at a risk of being overharvested. Therefore, wildlife agencies such as the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) set specific dates when it is legal to hunt and harvest game. These hunting seasons help manage the wildlife populations. Hunting season dates can vary each year and between species.
