Course Outline

Tagging allows a big game animal to be transported and stored by the hunter and another person for the hunter. The licensee must attach the big game tag before doing any of the following:

  • Before bringing big game to a road
  • Before loading big game into a motorized vehicle
  • Before bringing big game back to a hunting camp, farmyard, or home

The big game tag is an adhesive tag. You should sign the tag and date it by cutting out completely the month and date of the kill only. For all hoofed big game animals, such as deer, elk, or antelope, attach the tag securely to one of the following parts of the animal:

  • Around one hind leg between the hoof and ankle and joint
  • Around the hock tendon directly above the ankle joint on one hind leg
