Shed antlers are defined as antlers that have been naturally shed by any big game mammal in this state. The process of natural antler separation leaves a bony, rounded bulb at the base of the antler below the pedicle.

Antlers that are attached to a skull plate (commonly referred to as “dead heads”) or antlers which have been unnaturally removed from the skull plate are unlawful to possess unless the animal was harvested under the authority of a lawful game tag for that animal.

Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 502.150 states (in part): “Whenever tags are required for any species of wildlife, it is unlawful to have any of that species in possession without the tag attached thereto and such possession without an attached tag is prima facie evidence that the game is illegally taken and possessed.”
