Lauren Karnopp, Montana FWP: In Montana, hunting is more than a recreational pursuit. For generations, across cultures, around the globe, hunting has offered connection to land, family, community, and heritage.
Francis Reishus, Montana FWP: Successful hunting requires knowledge, skill, preparation, ethics, and access.
Though Montana boasts impressive public land access opportunities for hunting, 64% of the state is privately owned. Property owners, both urban and rural, enjoy the right to say who can access their land and how. Though FWP is dedicated to fostering public hunting on private lands through voluntary access programs, hunters share in the responsibility of maintaining that access.
