Course Outline

There are four standard rifle-firing positions: prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing. When you are hunting, there will be times when you won’t have a gun rest and you will need to assume one of the shooting positions. Many times, visibility of the target will determine which position you adopt. Practice shooting from each of these positions.

Prone

The prone position is the steadiest of the four positions. Because it’s the easiest to hold, it’s the best position for mastering the fundamentals of firing—aiming, breath control, trigger squeeze, and follow through.
