Course Outline

Game species in Nebraska include upland game (migratory and non-migratory), waterfowl, turkey, big game, and furbearers. Some mammals are protected and may not be trapped or hunted in Nebraska.

Depending on your age, you may be required to carry proof showing successful completion of a Nebraska Games and Park Commission-approved hunter education course to hunt with a firearm, airgun, bow and arrow, or crossbow. Apprentice Hunter Education Exemption Certificates also are available.

The Nebraska GPC issues different types of permits, depending on the game you plan to hunt or trap. In addition to a permit, you may be required to have various stamps, such as a Habitat Stamp, a Nebraska Waterfowl Stamp, and/or a Federal Migratory Bird Stamp, as well as a Harvest Information Program number.

Hunting seasons, times, and bag and possession limits are determined based on your hunting equipment, the species being hunted, and your hunting location.
