Do you need Florida Hunting education?
You need education to purchase a hunting license if you were born on or after June 1, 1975, and are 16 years or older.
There is no minimum age requirement to take the Florida Hunter Ed Course.
You do not have to be a resident of Florida to take this online course.
Hunting education is currently required in several U.S. states and Canadian provinces.
A hunter education certificate is not required for hunters 16 or older who are hunting under the supervision of a qualifying hunter according to the Hunter Safety Mentoring Exemption.
Why Hunting Safety Education Is Important
Since states have begun requiring hunter education, over the last 30 years hunting incidents have drastically decreased, while the number of hunters has increased. Today, hunting is one of the safest outdoor activities you can enjoy.
All U.S. states, provinces, and countries that have mandatory hunter education requirements will accept the Hunter Education Certificate. Likewise, Florida will accept Hunter Education certifications that are issued by other jurisdictions that meet official IHEA requirements. (This is known as “reciprocity.”)
