Locating and Signing Up for the Skills and Exam Day

If you are under 16 years of age, you will need to locate and sign up for the required Skills and Exam Day after passing the online portion of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife hunter education course.

Locate and sign up for the Skills and Exam Day in your area. If you have any questions about the Skills and Exam Day requirement, please call 207-287-8000.

Important! Bring a picture ID and your Hunter Education Firearms Card to the Skills and Exam Day as proof of having completed the online course.

Warning! Passing the online course does not guarantee you a spot at the Skills and Exam Day.

What To Expect at the Skills and Exam Day

At the Skills and Exam Day you must successfully complete the remaining course requirements, which include: 6–7 hours of instruction, a field exercise, and Maine's Hunter Education Certification exam.

After attending and passing the Skills and Exam Day portion of the hunter education requirement, you will receive your Hunter Education Firearms Card.
