What To Expect at the Skills Day

At the Skills and Exam Day you will expand on what you have already learned online with an additional 6–7 hours of in-person instruction. This includes safe firearms handling (non–functioning training guns), map and compass, survival skills, and other topics to fully prepare you for a safe and successful introduction to hunting in Maine. Once you complete these remaining course requirements you will have the opportunity to complete Maine's Hunter Education Certification exam.

After attending and passing the Skills and Exam Day portion of the hunter education requirement, you will receive your Hunter Education Firearms Card, which is honored in all 50 states and beyond.
