Hunting Regulations

There are two types of regulations.

• Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) Chapter 183D: The statutes created by the Hawaii State Legislature are signed into law by the governor. They apply to both public and private lands.
• Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) Chapters 122 and 123: The rules are created by the DLNR and go through a quicker process than HRS. They usually apply to public game management areas.
  • Chapter 122 HAR relates to game bird regulations.
  • Chapter 123 HAR relates to game mammal regulations.
