The North Dakota Classroom Session

Important Classroom Session Information

Locating and Signing Up for the Classroom Sessions

You will need to locate and sign up for the required in-person Initial Classroom Session before taking the online portion of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department Hunting education course. To obtain the permanent Hunter Education Certificate issued by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, you also must complete your Final Classroom Session.

Note: If you have not yet completed an Initial Classroom Session, you will not be able to register for the Final Classroom Session. Locate and sign up for the Classroom Session in your area.

Warning! Passing the online course does not guarantee you a spot at an Initial or Final Classroom Session.

What To Expect at the Final Classroom Session

There are two required in-person Classroom Sessions. Students must first enroll in the Initial Classroom Session, which includes 2–4 hours of classroom instruction. During the Initial Classroom Session, students will fill out a registration card and receive materials and instructions needed to complete hunter education. The student will also be given a date, time, and location for the Final Classroom Session. The student will then have two weeks to complete the online portion of the class.

Students will then return to the Final Classroom Session for an in-person review of class materials, a written test, and a hands-on practical. The North Dakota Game and Fish Department will send Hunter Education Certificates to students who have passed the course 10-14 days after the final class date.

Important! Bring your Online Completion Voucher to the Final Classroom Session as proof of having completed the online course.
