Transcript for How to Use Climbing Sticks and Attach Your Lineman Belt

Jared Shaffer: To use your climbing sticks, simply strap them to the tree using our DynaLite™ rope. I like to set the bottom step right at knee high just like this. So, I’m going to run the rope around nice and flat so it’s perpendicular around the tree. Then I’m going to install it on our DynaLoc™ tab by making an X just like that. Once the stick is on the tree, I’m going to push down so it’s nice and tight, and then I’m going to take my lineman’s rope and install it around the tree.

Now, before I take a step up, I’m going to tighten my lineman’s rope so I’m roughly 12 to 18 inches away from the tree. Now, as I take a step up onto the stick, I’m going to make sure that my lineman’s rope does not fall below level. So, I’m going to keep it nice and high like this, and as I step up, I’m simply going to flip the rope as I go.

Now that I’m on top of my first stick, I’m going to pull out my second stick and install it the same way. Again, I use my knee to judge where I need to put the stick. So, I put the bottom step right on my knees there and then run the rope around the tree nice and tight.

Now that that’s installed, I can continue my climb up the tree.
