Jared Shaffer: When the hunt’s over and it’s time to come down, it’s as simple as pulling your lineman’s rope out of your pocket, going around the tree, and hooking it to your lineman’s loop on the other side of the saddle. And I’m simply going to tighten this to take the weight off of my tether.
Now, with your lineman’s rope connected onto your saddle, you’re going to step off of the platform and onto your stick while your tether is still attached. I like to drop the tether down and leave it attached while I take my platform off. So, now that I’m off of the platform and on the bottom step of my stick, I’m going to lift up on the platform and loosen the cam buckle, so I can take the platform off of the tree.
Now that I’m safely on my stick, now I can take my tether off.
Now I can store my tether in the pouch, make sure my bridge is secure, and I can climb down the tree with my climbing sticks, taking them off the tree as I go, staying attached with my lineman’s rope the entire time.
