Lineman belt and saddle attached to a tree

The lineman belt is designed to secure your saddle to the tree during ascent and descent and during hunting equipment assembly while suspended. It is an essential piece of safety equipment that you MUST use at all times while climbing a tree.

On your saddle, there are two lineman loops on each side to secure your lineman belt. These are located above the bridge.

  1. Start by securing one end of your lineman belt to one of the loops on your saddle using a carabiner. Make sure to secure the crew gate on the carabiner. If one or both ends of your lineman belt does not come with a carabiner, you can fasten the rope to the lineman loops of your saddle with a girth hitch.
  2. At the base of your selected tree, wrap the free end of the lineman belt around the tree trunk and attach it to the lineman loop on the opposite side of your saddle using a carabiner. Make sure to secure the crew gate on the carabiner.
  3. The lineman belt can be adjusted for length with a prusik knot to safely climb the tree with enough room. Make sure that the lineman belt is always taut and is supporting your weight at all times while climbing. It should always be above waist level on the tree when in use.
