Course Outline

The bridge on a hunting saddle is used to attach the tether to your saddle, making it a foundational piece for keeping you safe and secured to a tree. Always inspect your bridge for signs of wear and damage before using it to saddle hunt. If it has any damage, do NOT climb.

At the end of a bridge is a stopper knot. Do NOT untie this knot for any reason. It is designed to catch you should the prusik knot become loose while suspended and the bridge starts to untie.

  1. Start by locating the prusik knot tied onto the bridge loop of the saddle. With your hands, pull the bridge in or out to the desired length from your body. You want your bridge to be at a length that is comfortable for your body while suspended in a tree and still holds you securely while your tether is in place. You can adjust bridge length before and after climbing. Always make sure you are connected to a tree by your lineman belt or tether to adjust while suspended.
  2. Once the bridge is adjusted to your preferred length, apply weight to the bridge to tighten the prusik knot in place.
  3. If your bridge comes with comfort position settings, secure your lineman belt to the tree while still on the ground to test suspension for comfort, and adjust the bridge to the desired setting accordingly.
