Do you need Oregon Hunting education?
You need education if you are under the age of 18.
There is no minimum age requirement to take the Oregon Hunter Ed Course.
You do not have to be a resident of Oregon to take this online course.
Hunting education is currently required in several U.S. states and Canadian provinces.
A hunter education certificate is not required for a minor under age 18 if he or she is hunting on private land owned by a parent or guardian, or is participating in a mentored youth hunt sponsored by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Why Hunting Safety Education Is Important
Since states have begun requiring hunter education, over the last 30 years hunting incidents have drastically decreased, while the number of hunters has increased. Today, hunting is one of the safest outdoor activities you can enjoy.
All U.S. states, provinces, and countries that have mandatory hunter education requirements will accept the Hunter Education Certificate. Likewise, Oregon will accept Hunter Education certifications that are issued by other jurisdictions that meet official IHEA requirements. (This is known as “reciprocity.”)
