If you are interested in hunting furbearers, Colorado again has a lot to offer. Colorado is home to over 15 different small game species that are classified as furbearers. Furbearers include badger, fox, mink, weasel, beaver, and bobcat. We are going to discuss bobcat specifically here because they can often be confused with their endangered cousin—the lynx.

Lynx are an endangered species in Colorado and cannot be hunted or trapped, while bobcat are a legal small game species. Illegally harvesting an endangered species, like the lynx, can result in significant penalties and fines. The image below shows several key differences between lynx and bobcat so you can be sure you’re harvesting a legal species in the field.
