How do I get my Nebraska Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate?

1. Study and pass the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission–Approved online course.

Study and pass the $29.50 course. Throughout the Nebraska Hunter Ed Course, you’ll be tested on what you’ve learned.

2. Print your TEMPORARY Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate.

After successfully completing the online course, you’ll be able to immediately print out your TEMPORARY Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate.

3. Get your Nebraska Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate.

If you are 16 years or older, your permanent Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate will be available for download in your online permitting profile 24 to 48 hours after completing the online course. To get your permanent certificate, go to https://ngpc-permits.ne.gov/NGPC-PS/faces/public/welcome. Click on “Hunter Ed Certificate.” Your first download is free. A $5 fee will be charged for any additional certificates downloaded 24 hours after the first.

If you are under 16 years of age, you'll receive your permanent Hunter Education Certificate after successfully completing the Hunt Safe Session. After successful completion of the required Hunt Safe Session, your permanent Hunter Education Certificate will be available for download online.

Is my Nebraska Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate accepted elsewhere?

All U.S. states, provinces, and other countries that have mandatory hunter education requirements will accept the Nebraska Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate. Likewise, Nebraska will accept Hunter Education certifications that are issued by other jurisdictions that meet official IHEA-USA requirements. (This is known as “reciprocity.”)

Quizzes and/or Exams

I failed a unit quiz. Have I failed the course?

If you fail a unit quiz, you can take it again until you pass. You must score at least 80% on the unit quizzes to pass.

Do I have to take an online exam?

The Licensed Hunter Exam is the exam you take at the end of the online course. You must score at least 85% on the exam to pass. You have unlimited attempts to pass the exam. If you don’t complete the exam in one session, don’t worry. When you log in later, you will be taken to the first unanswered question of the exam.

What is the proof of online Nebraska Hunter Ed Course completion?

Once you pass the Licensed Hunter Exam and pay for the Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate, you will be able to immediately print out the TEMPORARY Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate. This is your proof of online course completion. You can print the TEMPORARY Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate right then, and/or request that a PDF be emailed to you.

What is the permanent Nebraska Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate?

The Hunter and Bowhunter Education Certificate is proof that you have successfully completed all the hunter education requirements and allows you to legally purchase a hunting license in Nebraska.
