Who Must Complete a Hunter Education Course?

All persons born on or after January 1, 1969, must have proof of satisfactory completion of a TWRA–approved hunter education course before going hunting in Tennessee.

Persons under 10 years of age do not need a hunter safety education certificate if they are accompanied by an adult who:

• Is at least 21 years of age and...
• Stays in position that lets him or her take immediate control of the firearm or bow.
