After you register for the course, you’ll study the free online course material, and then you’ll take the Montana Field Day Qualifier Exam. (If you don’t pass on the first try, don’t worry. Keep taking the exam until you pass.)

Field Day Reminder
In order to complete the Montana hunter education requirements, you must pass both the online and Field Day portions of the hunter education course. Passing the online course does not guarantee you a spot at a Field Day.
Anyone born after January 1, 1985, must complete a Field Day to become certified. If you were born on or before January 1, 1985, you are exempt from having to complete a Field Day. If you are exempt, please send a copy of your Field Day Qualifier Exam Certificate to FWP and we’ll mail your permanent Hunter Education Certificate within 10 days of receiving your online certificate. Mail a copy of the online certificate to:
