Locating and Signing Up for the

After passing the online portion of New Mexico Department of Game and Fish hunter education course, you will need to register for an account in the New Mexico Online License System in order to be able to register for the .

Students who are at least 11 years old may take a 6-hour instructor-led field day.

Students who are 10 years old and younger must take a 16-hour instructor-led hunter education classroom course and be accompanied by an adult.

Once you have registered for an account in the New Mexico Online License System, locate and sign up for an in your area.

What To Expect at the

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish offers two types of instructor-led student courses: a Hunter Education Course and a Field Day Course. Either student course may also offer a live-fire exercise where students will practice their marksmanship skills on a shooting range.

A Hunter Education Course is approximately 16 hours of instructor-led class time and is for students of any age. However, students 10 years old and younger are required to attend with an adult.

A Field Day Course is approximately 6 hours of instructor-led class time for students 11 years old and older only.

After attending and passing the portion of the hunter education requirement, you will receive your New Mexico Hunter Education Number.

Instructions for Completing Certification
The New Mexico Instructions for Completing Certification is proof that you have successfully completed the online portion of your hunter education requirement. Students must present the Instructions for Completing Certification at the to gain admittance.

New Mexico Hunter Education Number
The New Mexico Hunter Education Number is proof that you have successfully completed all the hunter education requirements. After you successfully complete the , a Hunter Education Number will appear on your NMDGF Customer Identification Number Card. Cards are not mailed. The number will then allow you to purchase and/or apply for a hunting license.

Replacement

If you have already received the Hunter Education Number and need a replacement proof of hunter education completion in order to purchase a hunting license, you can log into your New Mexico Online License System account and print it. For more information, go to the NMDGF website.

To replace a lost or destroyed Instructions for Completing Certification, log in to the course and print a new one.
