  1. Hunters carrying firearms

    Always point the muzzle of your gun in a safe direction.

    Keep it pointed in a safe direction at all times.

  2. Hunters unloading firearms

    Always treat every gun as if it were loaded.

    It might be, even if you think it isn’t.

  3. Never shoot at a skylined animal

    Always be sure of your target and beyond.

    Know the identifying features of the game you hunt. Make sure you have an adequate backstop—don’t shoot at a flat, hard surface or water.

  4. Hunter with finger outside trigger guard

    Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.

    This is the best way to prevent an accidental discharge.
