1. Always point the muzzle of your gun in a safe direction.

2. Always treat every gun as if it were loaded.

It might be, even if you think it isn’t.

3. Always be sure of your target and beyond.

Know the identifying features of the game you hunt. Make sure you have an adequate backstop—don’t shoot at a flat, hard surface or water.

Never shoot at a skylined animal

4. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.

This is the best way to prevent an accidental discharge.
