Missouri Department of Conservation

The Missouri Department of Conservation (mdc.mo.gov) sponsors and manages hunter education programs that usually are taught by volunteer instructors.

  • Missouri’s unique 18 of 1% state sales tax is dedicated exclusively to conservation efforts. State businesses, commercial agricultural operations, and nonprofit groups are exempt from state sales taxes.
  • Fees from hunting permits also support hunter education and wildlife conservation.
  • Sales, rentals, and other miscellaneous funds make up a small portion of funding.
  • The Missouri Department of Conservation receives no additional tax revenue support from state, county, or city taxes.
