Carefully read the manufacturer’s instructions for proper use of your fall-arrest system, and follow all safety guidelines. (Notify the manufacturer if the instructions are missing or confusing.)

Always use a properly fitting FAS that includes a full-body harness while climbing a tree, installing an elevated platform or a tree stand, and hunting from a tree stand.

Only use a FAS rated for your full body weight including clothing and any worn gear.

Remain attached to the tree from the time you leave the ground until you get back down.

Make sure your FAS includes these four components:

  • A full-body harness
  • A lineman’s-style belt
  • A tree-tethering system (treestrap and tether)
  • A suspension relief strap
