In the USA, more than 35 states have taken the important step of mandating some form of educational requirements for hunting.

By completing and passing a state–approved online hunting course, you will have satisfied the educational requirement for your state, unless your state requires an in-person field day.

Good in Other States

All states that have mandatory hunter education requirements will accept your state’s Hunter Education Card. Likewise your state will accept hunting education cards that are issued by states that meet IHEA-USA standards. (This is known as "reciprocity.")

Is the Hunting Card the same as a Hunting License?

A state’s Hunter Education Card is proof that you have successfully completed an approved hunting safety course. Since the hunter education card does not expire and does not need to be renewed, it is not called a Hunting License.
