License fees in Wyoming are different for residents and non-residents. To qualify for a resident license, you:

  • Must be domiciled and physically reside in Wyoming for at least one full year immediately prior to applying for a license and…
  • Must not claim residency elsewhere during that year.

In Wyoming, “domiciled” means that a person:

  • Physically resides in Wyoming and…
  • Intends to make Wyoming his or her permanent home and…
  • Is not residing in Wyoming for some temporary or special purpose and…
  • Has abandoned domicile in all other states.

Simply owning property or having a Wyoming mailing address does not mean that a person is domiciled in Wyoming.

If you are absent from Wyoming temporarily, such as for employment, education, or travel for a short period of time, you may still qualify as a resident.
