2.8 Pump Action Rifles
Pump Action: Pump-action rifles are sometimes called
slide-action firearms. You must pump, or slide, the forend
back and forth to work this type of action.
- To open the action, pull the forend back toward the trigger
guard.
- To close the action, push the forend away from the trigger
guard.
- If the gun is cocked (ready to fire), you must press
a bolt lock lever or button before the action will open.
Usually this lock is located just in front of or behind
the trigger guard.
Pump-action rifles usually have tubular or box magazines.
