14.9 Turkey Hunting

Turkey hunting is growing in popularity in Washington as turkey populations continue to expand across the state. Turkey hunting requires a separate tag in addition to the basic hunting license. Some hunting areas require a permit (obtained via a lottery drawing) to limit the total number of hunters.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife has two flyers on turkey hunting in case you are interested in pursuing one of these birds. "Safe Turkey Hunting" and "Sex and Age of Wild Turkeys" are available from your nearest Department of Fish and Wildlife Office or from the Olympia headquarters.
