Scopes and Telescopic Sights

Scopes can present a safety hazard if you do not use them carefully. Looking through a scope creates a condition known as "tunnel vision." You can see only what is in the view of the scope. Objects close to you on either side and in front of you are not seen. This can have serious and even deadly consequences.

  • Take extra precaution when you use a scope. Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Keep both eyes open as you would when shooting a shotgun.
  • Never use a scope to spot game in lieu of binoculars.
