Official New Hampshire Online Hunter Education Course

About the Course and Hunting License Requirements

Under New Hampshire hunting law, hunters and trappers must attend training courses specific to the license type they wish to purchase. Individuals may purchase a NH hunting, archery or trapping license by showing a certificate or completion from the appropriate course, or a previously issued license of the same type.

After You Pass the Field Day Qualifier Exam—Your Field Day

Upon passing the New Hampshire Field Day Qualifier Exam, you are then required to attend a Field Day event. Please read and follow the Field Day specific instructions below.

Note: As of November 9, 2010 all N.H. Field Day slots are full. Please check on Field Day availability begining in February/March to sign-up for additional slots starting in April of 2011.

  • Register for a Field Day. After passing the exam you will be provided with the information to register for a Field Day online. You can see a list of Field Days before taking course. However, you may not register for a Field Day until you pass the Field Day Qualifier Exam. Keep in mind that Field Days with current openings may fill up before you complete your course and exam.
  • Attend the Field Day.To gain entrance to your Field Day, you must present your Field Day Qualifier Exam Certificate to the instructors at the Field Day for which you are registered. Cost for the Field Day is $5, payable when you present your Certificate. (You will print a copy of your Exam Certificate upon passing the online course.)
  • If you do not attend the Field Day for which you are registered, you will automatically fail the course. At that point, you will need to re-take the online course and exam, in order to generate another Field Day Qualifier Certificate. You must also re-register for another Field Day. Should you attend, but not successfully complete your Field Day assessments, you will fail the course.
  • At the Field Day, you will be required to successfully complete a practical skills test, a live fire exercise, attend a presentation on New Hampshire game laws, and pass a written exam (score 80% or better). Upon completing these requirements, you will obtain your hunter education certificate.
