Effective November 18, 2009, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission changed their guidelines for distance learning. Students are now required to spend a minimum amount of time on each course page before proceeding to the certification exam.

About the Course and Hunting License Requirements

You're about to begin the official online hunter education course of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. As of July 1, 1991, no person, regardless of age, may purchase a hunting license or hunt in North Carolina without producing a hunting safety course education certificate or have a copy of a hunting license.Official online hunting safety course for North Carolina

There are two study options:

  • Instructor-led classroom courses; or
  • Independent study through this online course. The online course is only available to Indiana residents 12 years old or older.

You can see a list of Field Days to ensure there is a convenient date and location for you. However, you may not register for a Field Day until after you pass the Field Day Qualifier Exam. You will need to provide your Field Day Qualifier Certificate number to register.
