Official North Carolina Hunter Education Course

About the Course and Hunting License Requirements

Welcome to the official online hunter education course of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. North Carolina accepts this as an independent study method that involves a two-part process:

  • Study at home—on your own schedule and at your own pace—then take an online exam. Upon passing, print out your Field Day Qualifier Certificate.
  • Field Day review and testing led by staff and/or certified hunter education volunteer instructors. You must attend a Field Day to complete your training and receive your hunter education certificate.

You can see a list of Field Days to ensure there is a convenient date and location for you. However, you may not register for a Field Day until after you pass the Field Day Qualifier Exam. You will need to provide your Field Day Qualifier Certificate number to register.
