Transporting Game

Ensure you have the transportation tag from your permit. Before you transport game in Missouri, be sure you use the correct permit and attach it properly to the game’s leg. Keep deer and turkey intact until after you have telechecked your animal by phone or computer. Be sure you have a pen, and write your confirmation number in the space provided on your permit. Then properly place your permit portion on the game next to the transportation tag. The checking procedure is complete. You now may transport your game out of state, take it to a processor, or process it yourself.
Most hunters take their game to a commercial meat cooler, where a typical white-tailed deer can be properly aged up to three or four days at 40° Fahrenheit.
Keep the field dressed game cool and free of dirt, moisture, and insects during transport.

A clean kill improves the flavor of game meat. A wounded animal that has to be chased down yields strong-flavored meat because waste products, produced by stress, accumulate in the flesh. |
